Edward M. Teater, President
Ed Teater has been associated with American Saddlebreds his entire life. His father, legendary horseman Earl Teater, developed and showed CH Wing Commander and managed Dodge Stables and its "mother ship" Castleton Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. Ed has been manager/trainer of Rock Creek Riding Club, Louisville, Kentucky; Dodge Stables, North Ridge Farm, Wayzata, Minnesota and Teater Stables, Nicholasville, Kentucky. Teater has won Three and Five-Gaited World's Grand Champion Titles with CHSea Of Secrets and CH Belle Elegant, respectively. Other well-known horses presented by him and/or his students include CH Local Talent, CH Lover's Sensation, CH Sultan's Supremacy, CH Too Much, CH Denmark's Spitfire, CH Northern Mystic, CH Sue Elegant, Principal, Tijuana Topaz, and many more. He served on the Board of Directors and is a Hall Of Fame member of the UPHA. He was Vice President of ASHA, has judged most major AHSA shows, has been on the Advisory Committee to the World's Championship Horse Show, and was inducted to its Hall Of Fame in 1997.
Suzanne T. Teater, Secretary/Treasurer
Suzie Teater has a lifelong interest in American Saddlebreds. She participated as a 4-H consignor at Tattersalls as a child and, as a teenager, exhibited World's Champions such as CH Tres Chic and CH Princess Julia under the direction of Jim B. Robertson. After earning a master's degree in Library Science at UK, she married Ed Teater in 1972. She has served as his personal secretary since that time.
Susan Neale, Office Manager
A native of Danville, Kentucky, Susan Neale received a degree in Economics from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia. Her connections with The Red Mile run deep, as her great grandfather won the first race on the first day of the Red Mile opening in 1875. Susan has been with TSE since 1988, and her other work experience includes pedigree research at Tattersalls and Peditype, as well as work with the Bluegrass Staking Service.
Martin Teater, Sale Coordinator
Martin was with TSE at its inception, serving first as grounds manager. He is well known throughout the Saddlebred industry, having trained and shown many winners that include Principal, CH Winter Fire, New York Knick, Monaco, CH Callaway's Wish Me Will, Callaway's Banner Headline, Callaway's Gossiper, etc. When employed by Callaway Hills Stable, Jefferson City, Missouri, he trained and presented at Tattersalls the record breaking two year old gelding Callaway's Hakuna Matata, as well as Callaway's Hot Pepper, Callaway's Weatherman, etc. He currently operates Martin Teater Stables in Nicholasville, Kentucky, where he has most recently developed the World Titleholders Kent Brockman and The Light O'Love.
Frank Conyers, Grounds Manager
Coaching has been Frank Conyer's life work, but American Saddlebreds are his favorite pastime. He purchased his first Saddlebred in 1973 for his daughter Melanie, and that, of course, was at Tattersalls. A well-known figure in high school athletics, he was a varsity football coach for 28 years, winning an impressive 187 varsity games. He was Principal of Jessamine County High School, Nicholasville, Kentucky, for three years, before begging to resign that position. Frank and his staff are always available and ready to help consignors and buyers alike with their various needs, and to maintain a neat and organized atmosphere throughout the entire facility.
Walt Robertson, Auctioneer
A world famous thoroughbred auctioneer, Walt Robertson, Lexington, Kentucky, is the President of Fasig Tipton, Lexington, Kentucky. He is a former Chairman of the Kentucky Horse Park Committee and is a former President of The Thoroughbred Club of America. A principal in Swinebroad-Denton, Inc, he was the auctioneer at the famous Calumet Farm Sale. He has been affiliated with American Saddlebreds all his life, as his father, Jim B. Robertson, was a well-known Saddlebred trainer as is his brother, Jimmy. Walt has been an auctioneer at Tattersalls Saddlebred sales since 1974, and TSE is indeed fortunate to have retained his regular services.
Larry Martin, Auctioneer
Larry Martin, New Holland, Pennsylvania, has been selling Saddlebreds at Tattersalls since 1971. He, along with Tattersalls sales manager and auctioneer Carl V. Garner, were the auctioneers for the famous Dodge Stables dispersal in 1975. Larry has sold Standardbreds, Thoroughbreds, and Morgans as well as Saddlebreds, and is also well known for his antique horse drawn carriage sales.
Bill Carrington, Announcer
A familiar voice in the American Saddlebred as well as the Morgan and Arabian industries, Bill Carrington, Shelbyville, Tennessee, began announcing at the Tattersalls sale in 1974. Bill has served as a horse show announcer for most of the major shows throughout the United States. He has been a UPHA Chapter Chairman and is currently an Executive Producer for Markel Insurance, Company, Richmond, Virginia.
