TSE/Tattersalls Spring Sale

On April 11 and 12, TSE/Tattersalls again opened its doors at the Red Mile Tattersalls Sale Pavilion in Lexington, Kentucky for The Spring Sale. The first in an annual series of two seasonal events, The Spring Sale included a catalog listing of 293 offerings. "Outs" (horses catalogued but not presented in the sale pavilion) were recorded at 19% while RNA's (Reserves Not Attained) held steady at 8.2%. "Our overall average was down from the previous Spring Sale, due to the lack of demand at the lower end of the spectrum," stated TSE/Tattersalls President Ed Teater. "A volatile economy and the high cost of hay were contributing factors, yet there is no doubt that the market for the quality, usable horses in our Saddlebred industry is still very strong."

Highlighting the Friday session and topping the two day event was the eleven-year-old five-gaited mount, The Power Broker PHF, expertly guided by Ed Cockriel, agent, Lexington, Kentucky, for owner Gene Evans, Dry Ridge, Kentucky. The crowd showed much appreciation for this gelding that appeared to be both fun and easy to ride, and lit up the straightaway with his flawless performance, stamina, and willingness to please. After much lively bidding, Kaye Bowles-Durnell, Louisville, Kentucky, became the successful buyer at $30,500.00. The Power Broker will now be under the tutelage of Lori Uretta, Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

Catalogued as suitable for a beginner or an advanced rider, the big five-year-old son of Star Material appeared very willing to do his job and performed his gaits with ease under the guidance of agent Roger Meade, Lebanon, Virginia. Dave Hysaw signed the $19,500.00 ticket on behalf of Terry Rusing, Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Cry Me A Rainbow is a full sister to World Titleholders Rocket City and CHThe Butler Eagle, and her second, third, and fourth dams are Hall of Fame Broodmares. Commanding a final bid of $16,500.00, she was purchased by John C. Willis, Independence, Missouri, and will be under the direction of Robert Stezovsky, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
